Back Again!

It's been a very busy month!  We've had a lot going on at work, and by the time I get home, it's tough to find a brain cell that hasn't fainted from exhaustion.  Both my daughter and my granddaughter had their birthdays this month, and present-shopping can be challenging!  My granddaughter is now six, and we try to restrain ourselves from going overboard on birthday and Christmas gifts - we do quite a few "no special reason" gifts during the year, though, so I'm sure she doesn't feel deprived!  What she really wants, though, are...

TATTING SHUTTLES!  Pink shuttles -- blue shuttles -- all for her very own.  And I, doting grandma that I am, have prepared - I have quite a few shuttles waiting for her!

However...because they have pointy ends, and because she's still in that slightly klutzy childhood stage (I'm hoping to grow out of mine soon), her parents (neither of whom can tat) have decreed that the pretty shuttles and thread must wait for her to "grow up a little more."  So...the pretty shuttles are waiting for her, as is the sewing box I got for her to keep them in.

  1. Goodness! Those are darling shuttle for your granddaughter! Do you HAVE to wait to give them to her? (I suppose you do...)

You would be surprised how often I hear ladies tell me that they learned to tat (or sew or embroider or...) when they were six.

Great job preparing all the pretties for her!

  2. Oh my goodness! Okay, so, they're all gorgeous, but the two with Eeyore on them just increased my yearning to master the shuttle by about a thousand percent! LOL. (As it is, my "tatting buddy" that holds my needles and crochet hooks for me is a little Eeyore pouch! LOL). The thought of an Eeyore shuttle might be just what I need to finally master the flip and learn to shuttle tat! (Me? Jealous? Just a wee bit... LOL).

  3. We're having Internet issues (grrr, CenturyLink..,), so the comment I wrote last night isn't here. I'm afraid it sounds like I decorated the shuttles - but I didn't. They are the work of Hope Bates, a fellow Palmetto Tatter - look for her table in the Vending Room at Tat Days in September! I just bought them over a period of a couple of years and am keeping them for Stephanie in her very own sewing box.

I did learn to embroider at age six, but back then children were allowed to do things that nowadays the "experts" warn against (such as using sharp implements). My mom and dad just to me to be careful and not stick myself with the needle!

  5. Oh! I love your shuttles too! You did such a nice job! I love all the work you did! What a wonderful gift! I have bought some goodies to bling out my shuttles and they are now packed away in boxes from a recent big move so I cannot get to all the goodies yet!! Ha ha ha! Anyway one day I hope to join in the blinging shuttle fun with everyone and post my pics!!!

  6. Thanks, but again, all I did was buy them from Hope Bates - she's the Bling Queen!

I am blinging some shuttles - v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y - and will show them when I finally finish them. There just aren't enough hours in the day!
