Palmetto Tatters Guild!

Our regularly scheduled meeting was yesterday, with an extra-special attraction - Riet Surtel-Smeulders, Jane Eborall, and Sally Kerson (Jane's sister)!  Jane and Riet taught at Tat Days.  This was Sally's first trip to the US, and we all hope she'll come back again – soon!

Jane taught the lesson, which was her lovely new "Walled Garden Motif."  Her lesson featured a terrific new way to start a motif with a self-closing mock ring without tying the two shuttle threads together.  I didn't get mine finished, but several others did!  Here are some pictures from yesterday - enjoy!

    1. We had a great time! They are loads of fun, and it was wonderful to be able to "extend Tat Days" just a little bit.

Riet will be with us through the SC State Fair, where we'll be demonstrating the middle of October.

When are you going to come see us again? Maybe Tat Days 2013??

    2. has the date been set yet for 2013? I am once again committed to the 4 days over Labor Day. [for some reason they think I am an advanced tatter. (now I am tooting my own horn)]

    1. Oh, wish y'all would! We do have so much fun - not just at Tat Days and at our regular meetings (not to mention the SC State Fair), but whenever any of us travels, we try to get together with the closest tatter (even if it's just for a quick lunch and a chat).

According to a study I read recently, all the deep South states (except Florida) are retirement-friendly with a lower cost-of-living compared with the Northeast and Midwest. Y'all c'mon down!

  3. It was great - wish you'd been here! We went to supper afterwards - there were 18 of us at Flight Deck, so they put us in a private dining room. We had a blast!
